Step one you should do

Notification: just before you start uploading your web pages, you will only see an empty directory.

To use CGI scripts you have 2 options:
Firstly, anything ending in .cgi or .pl is considered a CGI script.
Secondly, anything placed under the "cgi-bin" folder will be treated as a CGI regardless of its extension.
PHP4 scripts can also be used, but must have an extension of .php to work. To use SSI you need a file extension of .shtml
For your reference, perl is located at /usr/bin/perl and sendmail is located at /usr/bin/sendmail (in case your scripts need them).
